San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is one of the USA's busiest airports, handling both domestic flights and international connections for the Pacific Rim, Europe, and Latin America. Located 15 miles (24 kilometers) south of San Francisco, San Francisco International Airport serves the cosmopolitan city of San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and the wider Bay Area.
San Francisco International Airport has four terminals, including the much praised international terminal, three of which handle domestic and Canada-bound flights. An internal transit system, AirTrain, links together the various parts of the airport. Metro rail services run between the airport, the city, and the Bay Area. SFO Airport offers a wide range of amenities and services, including a choice of diners, shops, plus spa treatments, wireless Internet access, banking services, a business center, and disabled facilities. There is also an aquarium, aviation library and museum, Reflection Room, children's area, airport museums, and an arts commission.
From central San Francisco, take Route 101 south and follow signs to the airport. For access to the car hire centre, turn left onto I-380 and turn right onto South Airport Boulevard. For access to the long-term car park, take Route 101 south, exit at San Bruno Avenue/San Francisco International Airport, take the San Bruno Avenue exit, turn left and follow the signs.
Short-term (hourly and daily) car parking, with direct access to the terminals, is available at both the domestic and international parking garages. Passengers flying to Canada should use the domestic terminals parking garage. Valet parking for all terminals is located in the domestic garage, off the Departures level roadway. A long-term car park is located 3.5km (2 miles) north of the airport terminals. A free shuttle bus service operates between the long-term car park and the terminals.
