LONDON BOROUGH OF RICHMOND UPON THAMES HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
Lords of Richmondshire were known as the Earls of Richmond and included King Henry the Seventh. In 1499, four years after his coronation, King Henry, the Earl of Richmond in Normandy constructed a palace at a place called Sheen in the county of Surrey. Sheen was renamed Richmond and is now the famous London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Richmond in Surrey therefore takes its name from Richmond in Yorkshire.

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is a London borough in southwest London. It is the only London borough which is on both the north (Middlesex) and south (Surrey) banks of the River Thames. It is home to Bushy Park and the National Physical Laboratory.

The borough was formed in 1965 by the merger of the Middlesex borough of Twickenham with the Surrey boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Barnes. Richmond upon Thames is mainly residential, with more than 5,000 acres (2,000 hectares) of public recreation grounds and a wetlands wildlife reserve. The annual Oxford-Cambridge boat race on the Thames takes place almost entirely within the borough. Rugby matches between the two schools are also played there. Famous houses include Hampton Court Palace, the residence of Henry VIII, and Strawberry Hill, the home of Horace Walpole.

Much of Northern Surrey has been dissolved into Greater London over the years due to boundary changes, so areas such as Kingston (the administrative centre of Surrey), Wimbledon and Richmond are no longer actually in Surrey, although they do still associate themselves strongly with Surrey.

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames includes the areas: Barnes, East Sheen, Ham, Hampton, Hampton Hill , Hampton Wick, Kew, Mortlake, North Sheen , Petersham, Richmond upon Thames , St. Margarets, Strawberry Hill , Teddington , Twickenham and Whitton

Richmond station is the western terminus of the District Line on the London Underground system, and the North London Line. Richmond is also 25 minutes by Train from Waterloo station where Eurostar is based.

Richmond is approximately ten miles by road from London Heathrow Airport, home of British Airways and approximately 30 miles from London Gatwick Airport.
